With misinformation and disinformation spreading fast on social media during elections, it’s easy to feel unsure about what’s real and what’s not. That’s why the Samara Centre for Democracy partnered with Apathy is Boring to host a 2025 pre-election webinar designed to cut through the noise and empower voters.

The webinar featured insights and findings from VERIFIED - the Samara Centre’s latest project tracking how election conversations unfold online as well as Apathy is Boring’s Better Democracy Roadmap. This session will help you understand how digital platforms are shaping political discourse in Canada, and what that means for your vote.

Speakers:

  • Sabreena Delhon, CEO, Samara Centre for Democracy

  • Sam Reusch, Executive Director, Apathy is Boring

  • Dr. Beatrice Wayne, Director of Research and Policy, Samara Centre for Democracy

  • Alex MacIsaac, Senior Research Coordinator, Samara Centre for Democracy

In this webinar, we explored:

  • How misinformation, bots, and foreign interference are influencing online political conversations
  • Which election topics are getting the most attention - or the most abuse
  • Where civic engagement and meaningful political dialogue are flourishing online

We wrapped up with a Q&A session, answering real questions from Canadians across the country.

Whether you're a first-time voter or a seasoned political junkie, this webinar is your chance to learn how to navigate online political conversations with confidence.
